Sanctuary Roof continued

The original roof is now off.  New beams will be installed, the circular opening that was closed off will be reopened, new galvanised sheeting will be installed and the original drains that drained this roof also below the Cathedral floor will be restored.

However as you can see above we have some cracks in the parapet wall to repair as well.

Sanctuary Roof contd.

These are the first pictures of the sanctuary roof.  It appears that at some time a second roof was built over the original roof.    We will be restoring the orginal.  Unfortunately the parapet wall appears to be in poor shape with quite a few cracks.

Sanctuary Roof

The scaffolding is up around the sanctuary.  We will be taking off the roof and seeing the gable wall beams from the other side.

Roof Complete

The galvanised sheets have been installed, the seamless copper guttering has been installed as well as the galvanised ridge caps.  The roof is now complete and it is a gratifying site to see it glimmering in the sun.  We are deeply thankful to all who played any part in restoring this roof.  We thank God, we thank them and we thank God for them.

The valley flashings are installed as well as the seamless copper guttering.  The remainder of the heavy guage metal sheeting will be installed in about two weeks.
